Our classes are taught by Sifu Steve Brandon,
a 3rd level technician
and instructor of the Leung Ting WingTsun system with over
30 years experience in the martial arts.
Sifu
Brandon is a direct student of GGM Leung Ting (10th level) in the
Hong Kong headquarters of the International
WingTsun Association.
He
has been involved in martial arts for over 28 years. His training
began at 14 with wrestling and later boxing.
In
1971, while in the US Air Force, he trained in Old Pine Tree and
White Lotus styles of kungfu. Shortly after finishing his military
duties, he studied Tai Chi and Seven Star Praying Mantis.
By
1982, he opened a White Lotus kung fu school and continued training
in Seven Star Praying Mantis. At this time, he came across a book
on Praying Mantis written by Dr. Leung Ting, Grandmaster of the
WingTsun kung fu style. An accomplished author, Dr. Leung
wrote books in English for his colleagues who were experts in other
styles of kung fu.
Intrigued
by this, Sifu Brandon went to the WingTsun headquarters (then
in Arizona) and met Grandmaster Leung. He was immediately impressed
with the quality, fluidity and practicality of Leung Ting's WingTsun
and asked the Grandmaster to accept him as a personal student. The
Grandmaster accepted him, and Steve Brandon became one of the first
American instructors of the Leung Ting system.
